About The Event
Spring Abundance: Chemical-Free Growing
Come see where your food comes from — taste it straight from the field and learn what "chemical-free" really looks like in practice.
Blue Gate Farm has been growing chemical free vegetables, fruit and flowers for over 20 years just south of Knoxville, Iowa. Jill, Sean and crew provide over 50 families with a weekly box of produce through the Community Supported Agriculture model as well weekly VegEmail offerings. They also produce wonderful value added products like jam, seasoned salts and sugars as well as textiles.
It's a magical place and peak spring is the best time to visit. Rows of greens, early crops just ready to harvest, and the soil alive with life. Our guided tour walks you through exactly how we grow — from compost and cover crops to the diversity of varieties that keeps our farm (and your diet) thriving.
